Origin of the name

“Bago” was derived from the name of a leafy vegetable that grows in multitude in the area. Early settlers of the barangay are Subanen natives. Eventually the Muslims came to the place and they coexisted peacefully.

Creation into a barangay

Upon attaining corporate entity on November 15, 1969, “Barangay Bago” was formed by virtue of Republic Act No. 3590 as part and portion of the Municipality of Sindangan.

Boundaries

​

Barangay Bago is nine (9) kilometers away to barangay Poblacion, the center of the Municipality of Sindangan and approximately seventy-three (73) kilometers away from Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte. The barangay has a total land area of about 1,475.69 hectares. It has been divided into seven (7) puroks. Furthermore, it has four (4) sitios, namely; Daputay, Layasan, Lintuad and Lumbia.
